Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Station Offline due to Drywall Leakage
Tennessee Valley Authority incurred an unplanned outage in SERC at the 1,104-megawatt (MW) Unit 2 at its 3,310-MW Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Station. The company cited drywall leakage. It expects to return the unit online Thursday, December 1.

Tallgrass Energy Partners Closer to Starting up REX Natural Gas Pipeline Expansion
Tallgrass Energy Partners is moving closer to starting up its REX natural gas pipeline expansion. FERC has authorized the operation of three of the five stations for the Zone 3 capacity increase. The stations in Columbus and Chandlersville, Ohio, as well as the Decatur County, Indiana, station should be fully operational in December. The expansion will increase the pipeline's westward flow capacity by 800 million standard cubic feet, bringing the total transmission capacity to 2.6 billion cubic feet per day.

Valero Refining Company to Conduct Maintenance at its Texas City Refinery Early January
Valero Refining Company will conduct 49 days of a planned maintenance turnaround starting Friday, January 9, on the 110,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Gas Oil Hydrotreater (Residfiner), 30,000-BBL/d Rose and supporting units in the Resid (Complex 3) area at its 225,000-BBL/d refinery in Texas City, Texas. Plant personnel expect to reduce rates on the 85,000-BBL/d Crude Topper 1, 55,000-BBL/d Crude Topper 2, 85,000-BBL/d Crude 3 and associated Vacuum units by approximately 25%, although an actual rate cut is unknown at this time.

Dow Chemical Restarting Ethylene Unit at its Plaquemine, Louisiana Plant
Dow Chemical Company is restarting the 1.7 billion-pound-per-year LHC 3 Ethylene Unit at its plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The unit was brought offline September 9 for maintenance, as well as tie-ins for an expansion to increase feedstock flexibility. The expansion added approximately 100 million pounds per year of capacity to the unit.
