Ethlyene Unit Maintenance Turnaround Updates
IIR Energy has reported on some key planned and unplanned ethylene cracker turnarounds as seen below.
Westlake Petrochemicals is currently in the process of restarting its 1.25 Billion Lbs/yr Petro 1 Ethylene unit located at the Sulphur, Louisiana plant. The unit was shut down on April 17th, 2016 to perform a planned maintenance turnaround and tie-ins for an expansion. Restart of the unit includes approximately 250 Million Lbs/yr of added capacity bringing the unit to 1.5 Billion Lbs/yr.
LyondellBasell has shut down its 1,130 Million Lbs/yr Ethylene unit and downstream Polyethylene units located at the Morris, Illinois plant for planned maintenance. The approximately 60-Day planned maintenance turnaround has restarted July 22, 2016.
Dow Chemical remains shut down at its 1.65 Billion Lbs/yr Propane Dehydrogenation unit located at the Freeport (Oyster Creek), Texas plant. The unit was brought offline on July 12, 2016 due to a mechanical failure.
Osaka Petrochemical Industries Limited has successfully restarted the 1,102 M Lbs/yr Ethylene Unit located at the Takaishi, Osaka Japan Chemical Plant on July 21, 2016. The unit was shutdown for planned repairs on June 22, 2016.
Versalis Europe (formally Polimeri Europa) is still on-schedule to perform a 2-month plant-wide maintenance shutdown at its Dunkerque Nord Petrochemicals, France. The 837 MM Lbs/yr Ethylene Steam Cracker and associated Units will shutdown for maintenance from August 26, 2016.
