Industrial Info to Present Webinar on Global Chemical Processing Spending Outlook
Industrial Info will be presenting a complimentary webinar on the spending outlook for the global Chemical Process Industry on June 26 at 9 a.m. CDT (10 a.m. EDT). Join Trey Hamblet, Industrial Info's vice president of Research for the Chemical Processing Industry, and Shaheen Chohan, vice president of Global Analytics, to hear their discussion on trends that are driving chemical and petrochemical investments globally.
The webinar will cover the following topics and more:
- Summaries of planned petrochemical capacity additions
- Future spending outlined by world region
- Demonstrations of spending by industry segment
- A focus on key market drivers influencing future spending
- Capital spending by project type
Industrial Info is tracking $1.12 trillion in active Chemical Processing projects throughout the world, including $811.9 billion in Asia and $170 billion in North America.
Petrochemicals, in particular ethylene, will be primary in the discussion.
Hamblet said, "Investments in large capacity and growth-oriented projects continue to be the pace in North America and East Asia. Cheap feedstock costs remain the foundation for investments in the United States, while domestic demand is the driver for petrochemical investments in China."
Hamblet continued: "The cost per pound of ethylene in the United States continues to fall as new capacity finds its way to the market, making exports even more attractive. Currently, there are at least three ethylene export terminals being considered along the U.S. Gulf Coast, with even more potentially over the next several years."
Abundant ethane from U.S. shale formations is spawning a wave of ethylene projects in the U.S. Among the ethylene projects being tracked in the U.S. by Industrial Info is Royal Dutch Shell's (NYSE:RDS-A) grassroot ethylene plant in Monaca, Pennsylvania. Construction on the plant began in early 2017 and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2020. The 3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit will be accompanied by a linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) unit, high density polyethylene (HDPE) units and a 250-megwatt cogeneration facility. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the ethylene unit, LLDPE unit, slurry HDPE unit, gas-phased HDPE unit and cogeneration unit.
