Valero on June 6, experienced a fire at the lone crude unit at its 95,000-BBL/d Three Rivers, Texas, refinery, which also shut down four additional units. As of now, all units at the refinery are down.

Valero Energy Corporation on June 5, restarted four units at its 265,000-BBL/d Jean Gaulin, Canada, refinery. The units went offline on April 12 for major repairs. Mechanical work was completed on May 30.

Pemex TRI continues to shut down the 120,000-BBL/d Combinada 1 (Crude 1) at its 270,000-BBL/d Cadereyta, Mexico, refinery. The unit has been offline due to inventory controls and pump issues since early May; the restart date is undisclosed at this time. Separately, Industrial Info has learned that by early June, the 6,000 b/d Hydrofluoric Alkylation (HF Alkylation) 1 was forced to go offline due to a leak. Repairs are expected to be ready by mid-to-late June. Meanwhile, the 120-ton-per-day Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) 5 and SRU 6 units have been under preventive work since November 2020, and the restart is delayed due to a labor force shortage. The 150,000-BBL/d Combinada 2 (Crude 2) is online and running at 110,000 BBL/d, while the remaining processing units are online and processing at approximately 40% of normal capacity.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) continues with an unplanned shutdown of the 215,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) at its 760,000-BBL/d Jamnagar Special Economic Zone Refinery in India, which began on June 6 due to a reactor valve issue. As a result, the 125,000-BBL/d Vacuum Gas Oil Hydrotreater (VGOHT) 2 was derated by 5%, and the 84,000-BBL/d HF Alkylation unit was derated by 40%. As of now, all units are expected to resume normal operations by June 16.

OQ has rescheduled a 30-day planned major maintenance turnaround of the SRIP block, which includes four major units, at its 198,000-BBL/d Sohar Refinery in Oman. The turnaround is now tentatively expected to begin by January 15, 2022. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the units by February 13, 2022.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has delayed the restart of the 66,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation Unit 3 at its 166,000-BBL/d Visakhapatnam Refinery in India. The unit was forced to shut down on May 25 due to a fire. Repairs are in progress, and the unit is tentatively expected to be back online by July 15.
